Women will become increasingly important to spiritual evolution. With biological hard-wiring oriented more toward interconnection and nurturing, and less toward combative survival strategies, women are essential to our transformation. Statistics show that men perpetrate 90% of violent crimes, and almost all wars are precipitated and fought by men. Even in the midst of hostilities, women often act as social buffers, tending to minimize tensions and alleviate conflict. This basic predilection and skill-set should be more fully recognized and utilized.
During the conflicts in Afghanistan and Iraq, women helped to mitigate regional and tribal strife by aiding the formation of new and more inclusive governments. And American women were pivotal in bringing abuses to light in a number of corporate and government scandals at the beginning of the millennium. Programmed by nature to facilitate cohesiveness and to nurture the young, they are better able to step back from petty issues of competition and personal gain, to more clearly delineate right from wrong.
