Perhaps it is no coincidence that in the Gnostic Gospels, Thomas quoted Jesus as saying, "we are children of the light." This is yet another manifestation of the intersection between ancient spiritual truths and modern scientific discoveries. It was the unique qualities of light that led Einstein to formulate his theories of relativity, offering the first inkling that the observer occupied a central place in the fabric of the universe. And it was the particle/wave duality of light that subsequently led to the formulation of quantum theory, the new understanding that the universe consists of clouds of quantum possibilities, made manifest by conscious observation. More recently, with the discovery of quantum entanglement, where elementary particles have been shown to interact with one another, instantly and at great distances, theres growing evidence that the universe as a whole is capable of storing informationlike an enormous quantum hologram.
Consciousness has even been shown to affect processes at the genetic level. The recently formulated science of epigenetics demonstrates a level of genetic control that can be influenced by human thought and experience, and that can alter genetic function within a single generation and even be passed onto subsequent generations.
